PHASE 2 CONSTRUCTION
HAS STARTED

5/6/24: Work on replacing the two retail storefronts, the windows and the exterior doors has begun. The existing non-historic and dilapidated storefronts are being removed, and new storefronts with a historically appropriate design similar to the 1880s originals will be built. A $250,000 Community Development Block Grant is largely funding this phase.

PHASE 2 CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARDED

2/15/23: We've awarded a contract for construction of the second phase of the project, which will replace exterior windows and doors and install new storefronts similar to the 1800s originals. The work, expected to start later in the spring, will largely be funded by a Community Development Block Grant. Meanwhile, we're finishing up structural repairs.

MAJOR CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON THE STAR BLOCK

7/19/22: We're celebrating the start of major construction at the Star Block, with work to rebuild, repoint, restucco and repaint the crumbling back wall beginning this week! The work, necessary before other structural repairs can begin, kicks off an initial phase of the project that will include replacing the roof, rebuilding the skylights and doing structural work.
